Cover it in petrol, throw a match at it and film the results with lots of nice cameras, then sell the footage and buy a new monitor

there is very little point keeping it
only easy use for someone like yourself is the following: buy a mini ITX motherbord from via that has an integrated flatpanel driver & connector. be sure to keep the backlight from your laptop too. You could build a small super quiet PC with screen and embed it in a picture frame or something. You could also sell it on Ebay, or keep it as a spare. Alan PS Via have released a bord with support for the pentium M in the mini-ITX form factor. Last time I checked this didn't have a flat panel connector, but there might be a version soon. This looks promising for a future reasonably powered PC. |

make, model of panel would be useful.
If you can't be bothered taking it out then the make, model and screen spec of the laptop will do. I'd take it if it were a good future replacement (i.e. spare) for mine. Alan |

i got 2 of them ( i'll never buy a lappy again ) so would be interested in a tft controller as well , surely theres some vga or video to tft thingy somewhere that costs less than a new screen

desktop tft = ?150 to ?250
VGA -> TFT controller ?90 case and backlight, and powersupply -> ?100 It just doen't make sense to compete with mass produced items. Also the desktop TFTs will be brighter and have wider viewing angles. Only play with laptop stuff if you're building some special hardware that needs a built in screen... even then, there are better screen options. Thanks, Alan |

yeah i kinda guessed any sort of mod on the screen would be un-economical i just thought it was a waste to bin a perfectly good screen
