Im thinking of getting into vj:ing for real.
What videocard would be the most working one? I dont want to purchase a scan line converter, only a new video card that would be fast enough without the nvidias black border. Maybe dualhead tv-out or zooming from monitor to tv-out, i dont care, as long as it works. and rolls like sonic the hedgehog any suggestions? now i have geforce 2 mx 440. Maybe two different cards for the performance? What possibilities do i have? Are there any hope on cropping the black borders on nvidia tv-out? Are the black borders present on geforce 4? Please help. Thank you. |

The ati all in wonder radeon 8500 is a pretty good card ! But the ati all in wonder 9700 just came out and its suppose to be one of the best cards out on the market and its suppose to a lot faster then the geforce 4. Also with the ati you wont have a black border, both have tv-out and dual head and has a capture card. I personaly would like to get the 9700 all in wonder.
P.S. Ati all in wonder 9700 pro Peace I'm out |

I think the best video card to go for would be the g450eTV (or similar) with DVD max and dual head functions.
Have a look at www.matrox.com See ya (PS It comes with video editing software and video in/out connections) |

i have an ati mobilty 7500 in my lappy. i thought i would be able to get rid of black borders because in the control panel there are arrows to move/resize the tv output image .. but even at max scale there remains a bit of border (using PAL) ..
radeon tweaker apps have an overscan option but dont seem to work... any ideas?? |

Just as a general FYI to those with NVIDIA hardware -
You can use TVTool or tvcc2000 to put your nvidia card into boarderless mode (overscan). it will also remove macrovision (for sampling from dvd or tape), allow for positioning and colour manipulation and add multimonitor possibilities to nvidia cards that might not be able to otherwise have that. As an added bonus, it also deals with the problem some people have (me) with certain NVIDIA hardware where all the output through the comp and svhs is black and white. I found this one to be a real lifesaver. I think the webaddy is http://www.tvtool.de tvtool isn't free, but an older version that has most of the same capabilities called tvcc2000 is free and can be found without too much trouble. Dont expect support for that one tho... take care :j jason feser code geek / visuals guy elasticmediaproductions jay@elasticvisuals.com http://www.elasticvisuals.com |

Jilt, have you tried switching to NTSC output from your lappy, and see if that gets rid of the border? Of course you would need to be outputing the NTSC signal to a beamer, as I doubt you have a NTSC TV. Fortunately for you PAL folks, you can use NTSC with most PAL hardware these days...

Hi,
is suppose the TV-tool is great but.. you can't use is with a geforce (in a dell inspiron 8200) who has a NV17 Tv encoder type. Unfortenately. I found the information in the faq files of tvtool.de. Is there any other software who get rid of the black borders on the geforce 4 440 Go Nvidia (in a dell inspiron 8200) ???? Thx F!sh-! |
