DMX to MIDI conversion software/hardware

Hello everyone. I am interested in potential software or hardware to convert DMX512 signal into a usable midi format for my edirol DV7-PR.

DMX signal is being generated from a grandMA lighting consol. Does anyone have any info other than the artistic license hardware?

Any MAX-MSP objects out there?

Az... I read that article. Kinda usefull.. bot not really. I have although recently discovered that the grandMA can do midi show control and not information. next week I am having a profile created for it... so that is the first step. I was investigating the artistic license dmx-midi transcoders.. but they are 3-4 grand. Way to steep. Then my pal steve L. told me he could set it up. This is great news.....!!

know any way of utilizing MAX/MSP in a cool way for this DMX-MIDI stuff?

Does MAX have master programming objects which can be used for DMX -> MIDI translation?

If so, this is very cool.

I believe there is a "way". I don't think there are specific "objects" already written for this task though.

maybe there's an algorhythm documented somewhere. I'll do some searching.

i've got myself a lanbox lcx (www.cds.nl ) it comes with max objects to read and send dmx in max

now i use it to trigger video speeds with dmx
we going to try to trigger my V4 also.

vvvv ( http://vvvv.meso.net ) has an artnet module, I have built a small artnet to midi patch with it, although I built it 2 months ago and havent looked at it again yet!
There was some lag involved, but that could be the vj soft as much as vvvv. If you were using a pc as a separate artnet to midi box, that wouldn't be a problem.

just tested it @ home

lightdesk (zero88 sirius24) sends out dmx to lanbox lcx

the lanbox is on ethernet- network
also on this network are a powerbook and a windows laptob

both read the dmx from the lanbox
all kinds of parameters are controlled in our vj-patch in max/msp/jitter on both machines

on powerbook this dmx data is converted to a midi signal which is send to the edirolV4 to control the videofader

No use for me but I remember having searched for a way to get the lighting console to a VJ software and found no easy low-cost solution.
