Regarding social COncerns!

Is there a VMP London? If not! Anyone to join me to make it happen!
It would be really interesting to get AV people together and share important footage and set up 'Projects' ! in order to balance whats going on in the manstream media!

Hi there, I've recently set up MOD Films, a re-mixable film production company in London. We're working on re-mixable cinema, i.e. high end productions you can f*** with, legally and technically, for free non-commercial use.

I haven't waded through all the VMP stuff but at second glance there is much in this project in synch with what we're working on. Happy to meet like-minded mixers and content makers in town.

Part of our funding is for online community resources that span across existing communities so if you have a view on what's needed, do write and let us know.

Actually! I find it quite stimulating to reclaim screen space or catch peoples attention when they least expect it! Isn't also an information war?

I agree that its far better if everyone opts in! I believe in democratic media!
But talking about the general public and its lack of perspective on mass media and its corporate ownership!

I believe that part of the 'mass therapy' might take a bit of screen jamming!
Or should we leave the Jamming to Commercial Media Only? With the only excuse that THEY CAN AFFORD IT? After all? Is advertising asking people to opt in?

I believe the production of content, open libraries, collective efforts, elaboration of concepts in a non commercial environment are great and the key to positive social changes! However, I think it will take a while before laws changes and everyone understands the value of 'democratic' media!

SO I suspect, that most artists interested in this project would be somehow already part of a minority 'trained intellectual elite' or what ever you want to call it! I mean these people are aware! and that can take a lot of education.
And its likely they are going to be the one who decide for others.

Also, in the case of VMP, which I believe is decentralized - Shouldn't people be able to act and follow their indiviual rights and choose their owns ways of diffusing the message. or does it mean? that any decision has to involve some kind of referendum?

VMP is an experiment in decentralized 21st Century communication.
There is no central organization or set of rules that holds the VMP structure together.
In fact, there is no VMP organization at all.
Rather, it is simply a network held together by an idea.
A belief.

which makes me think, there is also a lot to do on public screens, or any screen!
The matter being? What are you going to say to that person at that moment?
How does it emphasizes the message? Would have it been the same if we asked them if they wished to see it? before they experienced it?

Err yeah... I just want to make films and can't justify doing so under the existing standard practice. I've got this inventions award thingie to have a bash at a more sustainable business model but it's not aiming to be any unifying form of social exercise, we're just making entertainment, wrestling pictures even. Where I hope it gets interesting is when other communities start taking advantage of any work they like instead of re-inventing the wheel and that helps to make media a more level playing field. Which I guess is what you guys are saying but it's late, I'm tired, and my eyes keep getting drawn to these silly smilies.
