Smile Ambient Electronica artist seeks VJ

Hi all,

This looks like a great community and I'm sure I will be spending quite a bit of time here!

I am looking to enhance my website with some nifty visuals, in the form of a music video for my music.

I write Ambient Electronica music, along the lines of Jean Michel Jarre etc, with a modern edge.

I can't afford to pay anybody at this time, but if anybody wants to have a go at producing some visuals for any of my tracks, I will show all efforts on my website, along with credits, links etc.

I also attend 'The Big Chill' festival in the UK every year and take along around 250 interactive CD's with me, which I give away for free. I would be most happy to include any of your work on the CD too!

My website has just received 10,000 hits since it's launch last month. Although it's still in it's production stage at the moment (it was built in a hurry lol), I think it might be great exposure if anybody wants some?!

Of course, this might be really cheeky asking, in which case say so and I won't ask again!

On the other hand, if you are interested, you can email me at:
info@stuartelliott.co.uk

Thanks for your time,

Stuart

hi stuart,

there is a strong concern here that giving away content for free is only reasonable in few occassions.

1. if a club or event organisator asks for a vj and you give him a showreel hoping to be booked.

2. if a dj asks you whether you are interested in collaboration for an upcoming gig. he gives you a mix cd with his work and you give him a dvd with your stuff.

3. submit something to a DVD edition (sometimes questionable, if you review the latest discussion about this)

4. you wan to become member of a vj association and introduces yourself with a showreel or you just wants to know what they do and so you?re exchanging dvds.

no one will contribute to a dvd thats given away in vast amounts for free, because there are too many folks luring around which treat free content not very well.

anyway:
I visited your website and listened to your composings because i am always interested in new musicians to work with but I just find that ambient is remaining not to be my cup of tea, sorry.

good luck

Hi elektroschroeder

Contributing to the free CD that I will be giving away is of course optional and I would never give it away in it's entirety anyway

Thanks for checking out my website and music though, sorry to hear it isn't your cup of tea.
