Default Is Motion Dive that good?

Is Motion Dive that good?

I am looking at Motion Dive from the specs it looks good and all. However the question of the size of the video is 640 x 480 this is not a full size as 740 x 540 were I am used to using?

Also is there as way to import clips from bands that I record?

Also one more how easy is it to export and convert to QuickTime to import into FCP?

I know this is a lot for my first post however I just found this site and I usually hang at Dv.com and DVinfo.net so your site named so I jumped.

Thanks for any info whatsoever.

Its certainly popular, if its good? depends on your taste really, some people love it, some people hates it and calls it a toy. You should download the trail version and find out for your self :-)

I am not sure but i think MD4 supports larger output resolutions, corrections anyone?

Yes, just render your recordings as quicktime or avi and import it in MotionDive. When you do, pay attention to what codec/rez you use as the settings used for normal movie rendering is not necessary suited for live performance.

You can record your doings in MD3 if i remember correctly md will dump your output to a videofile that you can import into FCP

Thanks

Looks like I have my homework cut out for me.

If it does allow for ease of exprot to FCP and a little larger file size I might buy it. NAW! I will buy it.

Default export to fcp

i better warn you that the output resolution is dependent on your hardware performance, and that capturing live output might be more than an average geared computer can handle...

if your want good quality in your exports you should capture with an second computer or a dv cam or something, especially at larger resolutions.

You can not output to a quicktime file in motion dive, you have to record the output on some external divice and then import it back to process it.

So I have to get an external capture card or something like that?

Or a screen capture setup?

if BassBall is right (i think he is as i dont remember exactly what the record button in md3 did) you will need a _second_computer_ with a capture card, a dv cam or a dvd recorder to record the output from the computer that runs MD.

You could try screencapture software running on the same computer, but i think it will give jerky and bad results.

So why would one buy such a nice application only to go through those things....

Darn I really like the way it looked.

What's a kid to do when he likes the toy and then he needs more toys and the wife says no?

Man I thought this ended when I left mom.

YES!!!

You can export to a Quicktime in MotionDive !

There even is a timeline; you just 'do your thing' and record it in the timeline; make adjustments in the timeline and 'render' the Quicktime afterwards...

Used it loads of times.....
