Your Vaio also has a TV out plus a lead (the one with yellow plugs) which terminates at a comp plug - trouble is, you'll not see the TFT screen once connected (unless they've done something different in the last 12 months) You not read the manual? Its all in there you know! If you want to maintain screen whilst inputing into a projector, yes, a scan converter is a cheap option, or use the dual screen (if you have a dual head card on board). What spec is your Vaio?

heh Amukidi

thanx or your reply, appreciated...

my vaio laptop is an sr11k (128mb, 8mb gfx) - its a tiny sub-notebook which has no tv out or composite due to its compactness! - all it has is a vga out other than a firewire ( there is a dedicated cable to connect vga to projector but i takes two weeks to ship and is impossible to track down from retailers - ive been trying all day! ) so i think the only way is to convert the vga to something the projector likes with a scan converter.
Am in london so hopefully i can track a cheap one down - how much do i need to pay? whats the quality like. Just for extra info am running resolume at a low 320x160. Any pointer greatly appreciated!

You should be able to pick one up for around ?100 - check the hardware reviews under "scan converters" and also Google the word and see what you can find - personally tho I'd go to a "Sony Centre" and stump up for the VGA lead!

2 weeks? Even from a Sony Centre? Have you rung around London? This is gonna cost you a lot less than a scan converter.

First stop has to be Maplins - I know they sell at least 2 models, if no luck there, try a big games shop - they sell Scannys so kids can play their games thru tellys.

if your gonna buy a scan converter make sure its has a scalable zoom, and that it is positionable ,

trust me youll end up crying if you get one that just scans one corner or other, and set sizes

read the hardware reviews , and do a search for scannies b4 you buy
