Lightbulb Need advice for MIDI interfacing :-)

Hi everyone !

I am trying to program (in delphi) a basic vj tool for multilayer mixing and rendering a few effects and i am actually interested in enabling my program to be remote controlled via MIDI, does anyone knows how to do this ?

I guess that basically, I just have to use the windows MIDI API but they don't give that much info and I wondered if there were any library for delphi or C that was actually implementing the basic MIDI functions ?

Thanks a lot in advance for all types of help

Peace Love Unity & Respect

wow yeah thatd be cool , another VJ mixing soft, cos we dont have enough already

if your a decent coder it would be far better to spend you energy doing something new with say freeframe, than repeating what hundreds of coders have done already

You've got to be kidding! You're dogging someone who wants to write their own software? Someone who never even said they would release it?

I suppose VJ's shouldn't bother rendering things, they should just find new filters for someone else's footage?

I take it you aren't a coder.

Hello guys !

Well actually we are trying to develop a VJ software that is taylor made for our Team since we want to focus on psychedelic visuals and be able to use it as a normal Vj tool, as a midi controlled vj tool or directly enslaved to our musical live performance.

When we know more about it we might try to develop it for linux but as for now we are relying on directx9 + opengl to build the soft.

If anyone knows a bit about midi programming thanks in advance and if any of you has idea of what kind of midi linking possiblity or other feature might lead to a brainblasting result, i am listening with me eyes wide open

Peace Love Unity and Respect

Default Midi conversion

The midi translator is matching midi signals to any input
might be a flexible way to enable midi wo programming.
I think it is actually done in Delphi.

if i'm not mistaken, bome still only supports converting midi signals
into keystrokes only, so it's pretty limited for controlling stuff.
and AFAIK the code isn't free.

and i'm with RED here, instead of inventing the wheel a 1000 times again we should really move into freeframe modules
with a free player plattform.

http://www.midimountain.com/delphi_midi.html

Also a google search for delphi midi revealed lots of results, but most of them are old, and as I dont use Delphi I cant really say which is best.

Agree totally about opensource freeframe host, dont know of any progress in this regard but then I havent looked recently. In terms of not reinventing the wheel, I would look at gephex which is opensource, and look at adding freeframe to that.
