Default Music producer who would like to get some video for his tracks

Hi,

I'm actually not a VJ, but I would like some visuals for my tracks to upload them to youtube. I was wondering what the options were.

My music and my work is taking a lot of my time/money already, so I was wondering if is it possible to create nice visuals with free/low cost programmes, maybe using my midi controllers? It looks like most VJ software is based on the fact that you already have cool video material, but I was hoping for an application that has a lot of standard objects tweakable thru your midi controller and audio input. Does that exist?

Cheers!

What you are looking for is a generative program, look at vvvv or max msp jitter

and look at it taking between 5 and 10 years to even scrape the surface of either of these applications.

really get someone else to make videos for your tracks, this might not cost too much money (if you genuinely collaborate with someone).

Imagine this was a music forum and i posted the following...

Does that exist? As i'm very busy this best take no time and make really great music that will work well alongside my videos so i get more youtube hits.

Thanks for the reply. For music, this actually exists! There are many free daws, and loads of loops available on the internet. So if someone would ask that, I would suggest to download reaper, watch a few tutorials, import the loops and you're good to go. Not as original as making music from scratch but good enough for the purpose you described above.

I'm not afraid to put some time in it, I know how to use things like photoshop and 3d a application (lightwave), but not 5 years

But maybe it's a good idea to team up with someone from here? This is a link to my latest EP: http://soundcloud.com/steeboo/sets/f...brighter-days/, maybe someone is interested in collaborating?

Cheers!

hmm - i wish there was a word in english for "wilfully missing the point" !

You can download crappy free VJ loops to load into whatever bit of crappy free VJ software too - the point is that doing so won't produce a decent result of the kind that your after.

Joining forces with other artists is a great way to learn new stuff and make interesting things which you wouldn't come up with alone, so it's great that your open to this approach. It would be helpful if you told people where you live too as finding a local person will make things more fun (as you could maybe perform live together one day).

There are other more localised VJ sites too so maybe we can suggest other places to seek out a collaboration partner.

I don't think I missed the point, but I can see what you mean from your point of view. In fact, I would tell everyone that adding loops is not what making music is about. Unless someone's hobby is making VJ visuals, and would like some music in the background. In music, I make every single sound from scratch (not even using presets most of the time), and I take it very seriously. I would love to have that same devotion to visuals, but sometimes you'll have to make choices. Teaming up with someone would probably best, and I really like that idea.

I live in the Netherlands, near Utrecht. I've just downloaded vvvv, looks pretty cool, and lots of tutorials available, so I'll give it a go. Looks alot like max4live. Thanks for the suggestions, and I'm still open for teaming up for people who like my music.

Cheers!

also try www.resolume.com/forum - they are in the netherlands too, and so have quite a few users who'll be local to you.
