Clips not loading in Modul8

So, I use M8, and while 90% of my clips work fine, I have a few, that for no apparent reason just sit at loading after I select them from the media library. I've had problems with some of these clips in older versions, and just kind of let them sit, got a new laptop recently and am now running the current version of M8, clips still don't load right.
Nothing seems to be a common determining factor as to why they do not work. File sizes, resolution, changing memory settings in m8, nothing seems to help. I've even converted the files from various formats, and they still don't seem to load.
The only thing that seems to work is loading the files up in after effects and re rendering them as .mov's. This is time consuming though, so, hoping to save time, i tried using a converter, and converting batches of files at once, however, none of these worked.
It's maybe 20 or 30 files that don't seem to work, but I still don't feel like wasting tons of time rendering them in AE, and it is footage I would very much like to use.
Some of it is footage from a friend of mine, I could see if he has originals in a different format, but other stuff is things I have collected over time, much of which I no longer remember where I got it from.

No apparent reason? apart from the fact that you knowingly can't be bothered converting them to the appropriate format!
If you consider re-rendering 30 clips a waste of time then you clearly don't need them.


Render you clips as mov pjpeg 75% and they'll work

and of course, you can batch render in after effects too...
