Default Live broadcast from club

Hi guys,
I've been asked to set up a live broadcast from a club, video&audio.
Now, im assuming this will be pretty simple to do with Ustream or a similar service, but what better more professional options are there?

Its a low/no budget gig, so any real professional solutions will be out of the question, but are there any steps up from ustream without a huge step up in price?

cheers

Hey dude!

Sounds interesting.. Last week I did some stuff for a webstream and the peeps used this:

http://aws.amazon.com/cloudfront/

it's a pay per hour webstreaming thing through a flash interface, which was pretty inexpensive, easy to set up and as all the infrastructure is done by supergiants amazon, pretty stable i heard.

however.. thats all i know as i wasn't getting involved in that side really, and would probably require some digging to get it setup, but i can try and fish for some more info for you.

p.s are you going to bluemountains on sat, per chance?

Although i dont understand most of it, it did say somewhere on the FAQS that cloudfront can't do live streaming, they apparently offer another service that can do live streaming - http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/

But, although most of the technical info there is over my head, it doesn't seem mention live streaming anywhere.

Also forgot to say, are you doing something at spike island tomorrow? might pop down if u are...

http://www.icecast.org/ to host the stream, then something like
http://savonet.sourceforge.net/ to get the stream to the server.
have not done it (yet), so can't really say any more at the moment

You can use my company - easystream.com
No charge - just let me know your account name
I have been trying to promote vjing via webcast with very little interest.
Let me know if you need any tech help.

umm isn't that the point of using something like ustream which has viewers already.

ustream is fine for a few hundred viewers.

Wow thanks Sean that's awesome! where do you live in hawaii? if it's the big island i'll have to buy a drink when im over there in july! Unfortunately it's not actually vjing that'll be broadcast, just a camera feed of the dj, although im trying to get them to add vjing in as well. Does your offer still stand if we're not promoting vjing, but instead glorifying another dj's ego?

Tom- I agree that with ustream the existing audience is a big bonus, but it also has adverts, which for me is much more disruptive to a music broadcast than it is to a lot of the gibbering that's on there. But i spose you get adverts in say a tv broadcast of a festival, and people still tune in to that.
edited to say: I mean adverts that interrupt the stream, not just banners on the site.
