Default intermediate codec

i've got another codec question. unrealted to VJ'ing. i just want to edit some iphone video in sony vegas 10 and it seems to get very slow/hang/crash if i have too many files in there. so my feeling is it needs to be encoded into an intermediate codec - like when editing 5D files. ive done this before and used cineform neoscene. worked a treat BUT that doesn't work now because i have window7 64x and the two don't seem to like each other. so my question: any alternatives in terms of codecs and how do i batch encode the files? seems like a basic thing todo by i haven't found a solution yet... any advice appreciated (but please don't tell me to use a mac or something, i need to edit this in vegas on windows 7 64x - that's a given).

There is one solution that is 100% guaranteed to work : TGA sequences. Whenever I have problems with source clips, that's what I use : it's lossless and compatible with all softwares and OSes.

We worked with some 5D stuff we shot as a test the other week.
The video files were H.264 and played fine in CS5 on win7 64 so I dont know why if you have the codec installed vegas is struggling with them.

i'd probably use picvideo 4:4:4 lossless as it is 64bit and fast.

We just bought the 64bit picvideo codec. I think it was £117.
