Hey There!
I have a gig that I am not going to be able to make. Its in the bay area and is a house music show. Pay is $200 for the evening, probably 10pm-4am You must have a projector (at least 2800 lumens) and your own vj stuff. Please email me a demo reel and interest letter @ morganlavery@gmail.com for more info. Thanks in advance Infinight |

Only $200 and you have to supply your own projector? That's like asking a dj to supply his own sound system as well as decks and mixer

I'm looking for some hungry Vjs that want a kick ass gig where they will make a couple hundred bucks. Let me know guys! If not I cam get someone else to do it. Just trying to spread the love. It seems all you Vjs on here are super bitter. Get over yourselfs and play because you love it. Not for the money. Thanks! Infinight |

Infinight,
I appreciate your call-out and solicitation. It's always good to post for participants! However, I would turn down this show as well. For a club show, my live stage kit with projector + cables is worth ~$4000 U.S. I would not prepare content, perform, and bring this gear for $200, as it isn't adequate to cover my core costs (I neglected insurance on the gear in this estimate). I encourage you to work with your promoters for a more realistic video / visual budget in the future. In this example, I think $500 is appropriate. |

im sorry im not geting at anyone but just to surporrt a poster to keep puting jobs on this space i have to say -
$200 = £124.30 give or take thats all right for a local VJ, seen worse, though i would prefer £150 = $245 for a small scale gig carnt see theres a problem seriosley if i was a local vj for nights work - its more then you get serveing at Mcwankers - haveing said that i realy think we need to understand that the work we are doing is far fucking better then working in a lot of jobs and for that im gratefull!

$200 and the promoter provides all equipment, including performance kit, and I'd be cool with that.

ok fair play theres no point argueing that opinions differ nither of us are any a lesser person for beliveing that -
what i will still underline is - if you want the vj world cercit to work then sureley its better to have people posting jobs on this forum then not and if that is the case - even though i am not saying an indervidual should censor there own speach for the sake of an ideal which may not be shared by the other - but personaly i worry that if peeps are to negitive when peeps post low paid gigs then the scene cannot grow or will not grow its just what i personaly do but i would never ask anyone else to follow my half ass plan to rule the world

This is the "Paid Work" sub-forum, not the "Low Pay / No Pay" area.
In this area, I think it's fair for VJs to communicate back their expectations relative to posts. Promoters who come to this area should be professional enough to handle this type of dialogue. |

i agree and i have to admit that my thought process became personaly important to me and i just posted - never been very good at impulse contole - as i have moved this concept to anouther thred -
but i do have to say that thred came about through working through thiis thred so to an extent it is important - i'll link the other thred to the various posts that i think are important on the other thred
