Default Projection Screens for cheap

Hi!

What is the best and cheapest (value for money) fabric to project onto? How bad are normal white stretchable bedsheets for projecting onto? And whats the best way of covering walls with it? Tape is kinda ... inferior. The reason I'm asking is that I want to have a fast, easy and cheap setup; but still be able to acheive the best quality within that limit. I'm using Infocus IN2112 3000lumens, and the jobs are usually clubs with 100 - 300 people.

I would get banner fabric from printers shop. Artist Heavy or similar is the one that has excellent video quality both rear and front(no hot-spot). Comes in 3 and 5m with. About 7RUR a square meter. Looks pro and can give you joy for years. Cleaning is a bit hard though.
Then there are many clothing stretch fabrics that are great but you never know without trying witch ones.
For cheap looking setup and only front projection shower curtain works wonders.

Keep in mind that the stuff has to be fire retardent, you donīt wanna cause people burning because one bummer took to much and played with his lighter in the wrong place.

Its not that big of an issue in Norway, as even the raves have a strick non-smoking policy indoors. I just need to know what kind of fabric to look for. What is that textile from the print shop called?

the endangerment of peoples health and welll being should alway be an issue.

in the uk its illegal to smoke in clubs but you still see it happening. its also worth remembering that fires can start in other ways, not just from lighters / smoking. the purpose of fire retardent and fire proof materials is also to stop the spread of fire from other things, not just to stop the screen itself from catching fire.

this might sound dramatic or extreme, but so is the damage done to people with fire.

I went to walmart right to the bargain bin in the crafts section. There I found a white fabric that you could see through just enough. Then I went to a Home Depot and got some 2" by 4" 's. I made a basic box frame and then stapled the fabric over it. Took the rest of the wood and made legs and support beams. Works beautifully.

I see what you mean about the fire retardent material. I friend of mine from UK who also VJ's said that the basic plastic sheets you use to cover your cars provide good and cheap projection screens. Any thoughts on this?

Any other idea's for projection screens which are cheap, transportable, good quality AND flame retardent?

Yeah, and how do you transport that frame? Or do you just keep it in that club?

What makes a good projection screen? What qualities should I be looking after? Usually I cant really test them beforehand.
