Hi everyone. I'm just about to start dabbling in the world of the VJ. I am a music producer / IT tech from London. I know my way around computers and most audio software. im also quite happy doing video editing, photoshoping and making basic flash animations but i am a VJ software virgin. The two names that keep coming up are GrandVJ and Resolume. i have just been playing with the demo version of GrandVJ and i find it fairly user friendly but i would like some professional opinions on the matter. The grand plan is that me and my musical partner are planing some live DJ sets. He is going to be dealing with the music(dance mashup) and i will be dealing with visuals. i like the idea of triggering visuals via my midi keyboard or midi drum pads so i can be hitting things in time wit the music. what would you guys and galls recomed?
Thanks for your time. below is a link to my groups facebook fan site if you fancy listning to any of our work to get a better understanding of what we do. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Breaknicker/165325864855 |

Can't believe i forgot that. sorry. PC all day long. i use PC's with my music production and they are easy to repair and upgrade. |

Both are well rounded solutions. The original arkaos was better suited to keyboard triggering, and from my limited experience in both it probably still wins on that front vs resolume.
Both are quite powerful and like many apps these days enjoy good stability. If you want to play around with 'clip triggering' - the term most vj's would use for using a keyboard to trigger clips, then give openTZT a try or tryout demo's of both applications. There are plenty of alternatives and also there are plenty of different features out there to choose from. www.softwarevj.com can help shed light on that.

Again, both are well rounded solutions. Try the demo's on both and choose the one you think 'feels' right. One vj's trash is another ones treasure. Most have different styles of vjing.
Other than that both are powerful and both have different features. There's no way to give you a yes choose this one answer as it really is a personal choice - based on interface preference and features. If you have something more specific to ask then maybe someone can give you a more conclusive answer.

Heya,
Arkaos in one hand, Resolume in the other, Which to choose? Let's solve this question once and for all, the really simple answer is get them both. Run one into the camera feed of the other. That's assuming you don't have my wife. Have fun.
