I am holding an exhibition in Februrary in a large space where I will be placing white cardboard geometric shapes throughout the space, setting up a projector and with photoshop drawing over the dimensions of each shape, importing that into flash and creating light animations over the shapes...
The problem I have is this takes so much time and I have only 7 days to build the work.. Leading potentially to a partially finished work for the exhibition... I am trying to think of ways that I can create the light animations before the exhibition install but cant think of anything because they need to be mapped perfectly to the shapes and created site specific. Does anyone know any ways this might be achieved or any ideas about how to make this more easily? Many Thanks. Kit www.kitwebster.com.au

Deep visual is that man:
Deep just wanting to show off his coda nova - lol. By the way - I'm not sure flash is the best software for creating this. But it does give you the advantage of actionscript. Depending on what you want to achive (not sure what the light animations is exactly) it could be achieved through code rather than manually creating each animation. Either way - you should research masks in flash. But perhaps you already are familiar with flash?

im familair with flash and it poses the best alternative for me at this time as i want to use just hard shapes and colors so when there is pixel bleed it does not pose a problem... The problem with flash for me is the shape tweens can become currupted. I want to make it similar to this:
this was done in vvvv but for this installation i want the light to be more systematic and running throughout the space and my vvvv skills are not up to that level.. So flash so far is the best option for me.. People have mentioned AE but the rendering times outwiegh its advantages at this point.. This installation will also have a quadraphonic soundscape that will shift in the space with the light |
