Default UK- Closed for xmas

Every year it seems to get worse.
this time many places are already closed down, effectively stretching xmas - which used to be a 3 day holiday when I left school - from the 23rd to the 4th Jan, a mind bending ten days off.
No wonder the country is bankrupt.

a slightly odd attitude given that you don't exactly work 9-5 five days per week with 2 weeks holiday every year...

maybe if people learned to relax a bit more then this country wouldn't be so up its own arse?

what kind of places are you talking about anyway? all the shops are open on christmas eve and reopen on boxing day, not exactly a 10 day break.

not the shops of course, but a lot of businesses have just a skeleton staff - snow being the excuse - so now I have to wait nearly two weeks to get an answer to an urgent email.

none of it makes sense, not just the bit about the pretend birthday of the guy next door to brian
