its been ages .. i just didn't really use the software even tho purchased a while ago (pre-release deal with Arkaos vj).
and now... love! really, really cool. the interface is brilliant, everything works, the effects are decent and it is really easy to define custom oblong screens and use a variety of different clip sizes without distortion. responsiveness is very satisfying. i need to rtfm some more, to figure out all the differences between banks, patches, synth and mixer mode.. anyway is all good. |

won't consider it until they include "record track" and "export to quicktime" options as arkaos VJ does.

sure, there's plenty of other vj programs that can provide more options..
i didn't use grandVJ for 18 months because it would switch my sound from 48khz to 44.1khz .. and the spdif connection to the mixer was 48khz .. eventually i disconnected the spdif connection, made the sound to be 44.1 and everything is cool. so, now grandVJ doesnt interfere with the sound system, im happy. the biggest helpful factor is that a clip's opacity, speed, r.g.b. values and transfer mode are all right there. no 'double-click' to get to a clip's properties. seems like a pretty inconsequential thing to be getting stoked about, although really if there's 50 clips in a bank, that means 50 double-clicks are not necessary any more to access the clip parameters. so, that is 100 .. oh, too many details, lol! also there is the HD playback factor - very enjoyable, gvj handles big files with ease, and vj-ing through plasma/flatscreens requires HD output. suffice to say, i love grandVJ. prolly won't ever be a record-to-disk option with this application tho. to capture some of the realtime video art/mixing, filming the plasma screen can yield some nice results. for professional work i use the adobe suite anyway. |
