Default building HD package with AE - which codec ?

Hi all,

I'm building my first HD 1920x1080 package and am little stuck with codec etc.

building a .mov and also a .avi section for HD footage.

little stuck with .mov ..what is the best compression for quicktime ?

I thought if:

1920x1080
25 fps
h.264 bluray ( but no progressive only field order)

animation will give me very large file sizes.

any suggestions ??

cheers, Ian

for usage in various vj progs. did a mpeg4 a minute ago but "black isn't black" anymore but dark grey. ..god, i'm never pleased

shot footage in the woods, trees, mushies, leaves and gaint bugs ...then adjusting brightness and contrast...placing effects ...and render for use.

I also shot a couple of months ago some liquid footage in water have got some examples on our channel for example :

which resolume 2 or avenue?

avenue can use hardware decoding of DXV codec which is cross platform and ideal for HD. i wouldnt want to run HD clips in version 2 though....

umm yeah you might need a mac to encode prores on - it will playback on windows so long as you have QTpro
