I've used their AIW touch thing which, knowing Dell, uses the same touch panel as this. It was responsive but was limited in Vista b/c of the lack of multitouch support. Basically, it was just my finger being the mouse which isn't very useful or even fun.

you'll see lots more touch screens now that Win 7 is out, it was built with touch screen to be a default control.

IMHO - I think tough screens are kind of a waste - why do with your hand what you can with your finger. The mouse is a lot easier. A flush desk mounted touch screen would be nice until I spill my soda all over it.

There are ergonomic issues with vertically mounted touchscreens, they are tiring to use. If compelling uses in software for multitouch are established then horizontal table-top like multitouch could be an interesting part of the future. I wait with interest to see what people do with the much-rumoured apple tablet.

the same applies to horizontally mounted touchscreens - they put stress on the neck. here's an interesting approach, attempting to get the best of both worlds:

My interest in touch screens was dulled considerably after buying a tablet/laptop. Once you spend a bit of time with one the novelty wears off.
The ergonomics is the biggest issue, it's hard to be usable in a comfortable position. For me, this is slouched on the lounge with it on my lap... that worked well but any other time I'd rather the mouse.
Using any touch interface on a desk as either a monitor or flat-mounted screen would be very awkward for anything longer than a few minutes at a time.
The only advantage I can see is for live performance, but personally would rather hardware controllers for that due to tactility and robust build.

Coincidently I was playing with a new touchscreen laptop in a store today, it confirmed my feelings that it's just not the best interface for efficient computing.

nice interesting video.
I'm studying multitouch technologies at the moment and talking about this ergonomics issues right today.

I wonder how much time we'll have to wait for those special keyboard showing up in the stores...
