Default V-4 Alternative

Ok, ive almost come to terms with the fact that the V-4 is never going to come down in price......was really hoping it would with the release of the V-8.....and i despratley need a video mixer. Is there something someone could recomend that maybe would be a little less pricey? i dont need 15 inputs or anything, or a bunch of extras.....just something i can hook up at least 2 inputs....ive looked on ebay and there are so many out there

although it has it's detractors, I still think the Videonics MX1 is a lot of mixer for the money.

Korg Cross 4 is a simple 4 input mixer with no effects ( pretty sure it has luma keying though )

by "detractor" I mean people who do not like it. The one short-coming of the MX1 is the "lag" when moving the T-Bar from one source to the other. It does not allow you to do really fast cuts back and forth between sources. But it does have chroma-key and luma-key, 4 inputs, and TBC. Also all the cheesy wipes/etc.

Video mixers are not cheap. But they are an invaluable tool for VJs! Typical going rate for a good (not-VJ owned) MX1 is $400-500 USD.

Ebay search Panasonic video mixers.

I have a WJMX30 that I love. I paid $450 for it. It came with a nice case and had been modified with 4 controls on each channel to tweak the saturation, hue, brightness and contrast. I am sure you could find a cheaper one. A Panasonic WJ-MX20 would be cool.

I have the MX20 its not my favorite mixer by all means. lots of parameter multibutton changes necessary to accomplish an otherwise simple task. I use mine as an overglorified A/B/C/D Switch
