Vital AV is moving to France!!!!!

Its time to move out of our damp cold moldy home in Leeds and head off into the sunset on a quest for a sustainable existence in warmer latitudes. This is a very exiting opportunity to get involved with a grassroots audio visual sound system.

The Plan as it stands is to pack our van with speakers and projectors and head down initially to the French town of Chamonix. Where we will attempt to book a venue. We are hoping to be able to get a couple of weekly sessions in roughly 200 capacity clubs. Playing (yes you guessed it) Dub Reggae Ska, Dubstep and 'other'. an an AV styleee... The initial stage will be crucial as we won't have very much money in reserve. It will be work work work on the promotion and hope we can make enough from the sessions to keep us going.

Some of you already know we are planning this trip but Its finally looking like we will make it! I've been investing s**t loads of my hard earned cash in Power amps drivers wood and processors for our Audio Visual Sound System.

If it all goes well we will be needing guest Audio Visualists Vjs and Djs so give us a shout if you are interested in that. Especially If you are a Vj in France- send us an e-mail or give me a call and I would love it if we could find a way to work together. Or next time you are planning that Ski trip, remember to bring your Laptop/Vinyl and we will see you there!

I can imagine that some of you are thinking "I don't fancy your chances you crazy fools". And yes, what we are planning is a bit crazy but I have faith that we can (if nothing goes drastically wrong) pull it off.

What the hell- you have to do these things while yer young. What do you lot think? Venues? People to know? Tips? Naysayers? Contacts? all appreciated!

Mate it sounds great. I wish you the best of luck with the project, I'm sure there'll be some ups and downs but that's what you get in a ski resort

I will be in touch if I happen to go to Chamonix. I'll definitely be skiing before march but not sure about where yet.

going after your dream is one of the best things you can do in this life.
sounds great and could work, especially if beside other thing you have some cash to keep you going at the begging and smoothen any “bumps” you might "run over".

Thank you very much for your kind words of support! I'm very very pleased that some of you on the forum are interested in what we are working towards.

I want it to be a bit of a Vj takeover really, so if any of you are Vjs and want to start up doing Av I'm hoping this will be a very conductive environment to hone your audio skills.

I didn't put this in the Job offers section because, as might be apparent from the first post, initially it will be a promotion exercise. I am very keen on paying guest artists in the future. based on success of individual nights. I.e. If you are interested/ experienced at promotion and willing to help us there may be more money to go round....... Anyway that's the best case scenario.

I'll be building and loading the speaker cabinets early January so I'll post up some build pics then. Anyway its back to Tax returns and house moving preparation with me!

Good luck Vital, allways up for a trip to France...cant Ski but I was good at sliding at school I've got a 3Kw EV PA I could be persuaded to get rid of if your interested to save you building. Easily managed by one man with muscles, 18" bass bins, 15" + horn tops + a pair of EV SX500's. I need more space for visuals gear....lol. Going cheap too if your interested...just cant be arsed advertising it

Nice one Steve, Yes, I hear the area has some of the worlds most extreme plastic bagging. I'm not a Skier yet either. Been to Cham a couple of times before on mountaineering trips. We will see how the funds work out before starting that business. Long term vision!

I'm building some 15" Scoops for bass bins and I already have mid tops and Amps. The drivers came in the post today I'm a big fan of horn loading and was planning to build some of my own design front loaded horns but after lots of deliberation and careful analysis of other peoples sound systems I realized that nothing quite roars like a scoop. They have their own drawbacks but for reggae bass the effect they produce is very desirable. Thanks for the discount offer on those Evs. Hope to see you out there!

its a brave undertaking indeed but to be applauded, i hope to do something similar in a few (or more) years, see what state the world is in!
id love to come out and play so will let you know im in the area some time.
i've also just started discussions and planning with a dubby/technoy/dubstep artist about working on some AV material, so perhaps if that goes anywhere then we could bring that to your part of france.
