Very nice indeed. VJ Brye it is not light years ahead the curve is steep at the start then you shoot up it like a rocket keep hackin at it, I took on an archictural job six weeks ago knowing nothing and just lived inside mental ray and my client is very happy and my next client is getting charged 8x as much.

oh yeah and my god how good is blender these days. combined with ubuntu, gimp and say veejay, what an amazing bunch of free softs.

It is a little bit similar to some of us trying to construct rather crude artificial human (a robot) in the same time perfect humans are created by millions every day.
I feel that technology takes away a bit of our fantasy every time it advances. I just can not agree with the amount of time spent at the computer and the result - 3D wasp for instance. And it displays the technology itself not the content so often.
So - creating content..... by creating content...

I don't think I'm that discouraged!

You can get vee-jay-able results with a few tutorials.

Honestly such a detailed 3d animal would be overkill for visual mostly. Some of the best 3d that I personally like is more simple geometry. And to back up what VGA said... hes right.. the more you dabble, the more familiar ya get. presently, its more about time to animate some of my simple 3D shapes than navigating the software or anything... I think I've figured out some simple stuff I want to vj with. (thanks to tutorials)

Here's a thought (from a 3D novice) Anyone ever see 3d models for sale? free? Is that even practical?

I made a ball and some stacked cubes fall!! Does that count LOL seriously though blender is a great source for making source material. hard to understand at first. I had the program like 2 years before I started really even using it and its still me clunking through it. By the time you get through making a simple object im so bored with the object i dont even want to look at it anymore.

Absolutely, we live in the dark ages.. we perform brain surgery with a knife
When surely something more fine/precise is required..
