Default A musician looking for music visualisation software

Ok, I am a musician who stumbled across the VJ industry while looking into making a music video. I am really getting interested in the concept but I need to first invest time in a cheap but visually apealing music video.

For now Im looking into the extensivly complicated vvv as it looks to be the best. But I dont know where to start with this very complex modual enviroment.

If anyones got alternative software ideas or a way to point me to a tutorial that would be fantastic. (Keep in mind, even though I say I am a musician I am also a 3D enthusiast and has a good Idea with everything visual... just not this...)

thanks ahead of time!

Have you tried out vsxu?

I've got a few 'particle' based packs available for free download. But its really quite powerful for realtime 3d as well. If you'd like to use them in a video clip you'll need to contact me in regards to licensing.

There are others too like salvation (another modular app), and vjo gold
allows you to import 3ds as well. Then theres always the pricey touchplayer

Ill look into it I have to wait till tomorrow for a guitar cable. (Connect mixer in and out so I can fool windows) My audio card doesn't have a stereo out. And I wouldn't plan on selling the visuals. Just place them on youtube to promote my music... would I need licencing for that?

Will do. I do have one more question though. How do I get vvvv to interact with the music is there a node I have to add or does it just work through windows recorder.

Yo. VVVV takes a while to get into, but I'm sure you've realized that by now.

For audio, check out the FFT and Scope nodes, and look at their help patches.

Depending what your music style/workflow is, you might look at using midi though.

Good luck
