Default MIDI problems

Hey Guys!

Been into visuals on and off for a while now, finally thought I would try it out live at a show this thurs

Only problem is I have having some problems with MIDI. I have a Korg MicroKorg Synth and a Korg ER MK2 Drum Module. I have both on these linked through a M-Audio Uno USB MIDI interface, and am running Arkaos VJ 3.6.

Basically I want the Synth and Drum Module to trigger images and loops, but only one signal seems to get through. I've tried all the different connections I could, either the MIDI from the synth works, or only the Drum Module. Right now I have it setup like this (which I think SHOULD work):

MIDI out from synth to MIDI thru into Drum Module. Then MIDI out from Drum Module into MIDI into the comp. Only the Synth signal gets through, Synth is on MIDI ch 1 and Drum module is on MIDI ch 2.

I am lost! Some help would be greatly appreciated!

Thx in advance

you need to go MIDI OUT of synth >> MIDI IN of drum module >>MIDI Thru of drum module >>MIDI IN of computer.

it's possible that you also need to set the drum module to merge it's output with the thru but this is probably it's default setting

Thx for the quick response

I set it up the way you mentioned, only the Synth signal is still getting through. Maybe I need to enable the combining of the Out and Thru on the ER MK2 like you mentioned.

Gonna go read up the manual and see if it mentions anything in there...

i think problem is in midi channels. soft that i use has only one channel. try to see manuals for it or switch drum on first channel. i think you can choose midi chanel in arkaos and you have to try another software to see a presence of youre midi signal in computer.

Well the only option I can have selected in Arkaos is the M-Audio Uno.

I thought that with MIDI even though you have only one input as long as you have the signals on different channels it's fine.

You should be able to transmit up to 16 different signals in one MIDI cable no?

yes if your software can listen on more than one channel

use a midimonitor app to see what midi your actually receiving before you try and get archaic to work.
