Default djscreen reviews?

I saw that djscreen.com was mentioned in a previous thread about RP fabrics. Has anyone out there actually worked with this product directly? Is it a crappy gimmick package or passable pro equipment?

If you have smarter alternatives feel free to throw those down as well.

it is not a pro screen! it's a very cheap trussing system and a bit of 4way stretch lycra - you can make your own version of this very easily... the photos of it on the front of their website are made in photoshop - it simply won't look like that in actual use.

Their demo videos would suggest otherwise Tom. I do think they miss the point totally with their own screens however when they project a 4:3 image with borders showing onto this shaped screen.

in what way do their demo videos suggest otherwise... it's 4 way stretch lycra with a hem - quite neatly done but nothing that couldn't be made at home with a decent sewing machine. the video with a projection on doesn't show the hotspot because the projector is below the bottom of the screen - if you had the projector higher or the screen lower you'd see the standard lycra hotspot.

I would not describe any screen manufacturer which photoshops there publicity images as obviously as they have done as professional - if their product was any good then they would show you real photos of it...

look at this one!

notice how the black areas of the image are blacker than the screen itself? now as any projectionist knows a projector cannot project black (black is produced by an absence of light) so what is going on here? either they are working a parallel universe where you can project black or they have taken a crude screen shot jpg and photoshoped it onto a picture of their screen.

either way it's well dodgy - i'd avoid them if i were you.

Some of the projection surfaces on the photos have been slightly enhanced digitally due to the
camera's flash rendering the image on screen unviewable at the time the photo was taken.

it says that on the site with the images. A lot of money for what it is.

Hmmm.....I think it's more than 'slight enhancement' if the image wasn't even viewable!!

Why didn't they just take another picture with the flash...i don't know.....OFF!?!?!

This smells of kipper.

Hehehe! May have sounded harsh, but imho there's no excuse for a firm selling projection screens not to realise the importace of taking a decent picture of the kit in action. Whether they operate out of Bob's shed or Trump Towers it's not rocket science!
