vBrooklyn: A video-festival about Brooklyn as a place and video as an artform

November 30 to December 2, 2007
Polytechnic University, Brooklyn
in cooperation with the Integrated Digital Media Institute and Forward Motion Theater.
vBrooklyn documents the evolving state of Brooklyn, NY, through contemporary video-art. The festival showcases video-artists as they build an historical record of the borough through innovative, entertaining and personal interpretation and documentation.
Friday, November 30 at 8pm

The festival features IDMI?s 9-channel video system. Over 25 artists will present live and composed multichannel video-performances and screenings focusing on the immense complexity and detail that make Brooklyn a unique city within a city.


Multimedia artist, educator, and software developer R. Luke DuBois will present a piece written specially for the 9 channel system as well as an updated multichannel encore of his 2006 vBrooklyn presentation.


There will be demonstrations and discussions of the intersection of urban history and video technology, including a screening of Manhattan Borough Historian Michael Miscione?s ?The City of Greater New York: The Story of the Consolidation?, a documentary featuring New York City?s absorption of independent Brooklyn.

Thanks guys! I am still alive and kicking. Trying to get this "producer" thing under control. I think producers make even less than VJs, har har.

vBrooklyn went great! Complicated room involving video servers, but great live performances and even a "legit" documentary by the Manhattan historian (mayor's office type person).

I'll get pics up soon!
