The Moor Music Festival: a visionary festival

This years Moor Music Festival presents a visionary mash of film and visual art, chosen specially to accompany and complement the huge variety of music on offer. The Green Room provides a focus for this feast of visual treats, but it will also extend right across the festival site, day and night.

In the light hours, Mail Service 541 showcase some of the North?s finest artists in the Green Room, incorporating live performances from painters, wood carvers and doodlers.

As the sun sets on the Green Room, a Frankenstein?s monster of northern alternative cinema will emerge from shadows, stitched together by the Leeds based promoters Kultur Cine Club, EXP24 and lookandlisten.

Kultur Cine Club will be bringing film lovers an exciting program of short films and documentaries from the best in UK and world cinema talent. On the cards are a jam of cultures and different point of views that will engage, inspire and challenge your perceptions, ?because the word is closer than you think?.

EXP24 breaks the frame with exciting experimental cinema from around the globe sound-tracked live by the incredible improvisational sounds of LIMA [Leeds Improvised Music Association]

lookandlisten take the controls for the early morning session, screening a cut n paste selection of cult and classic films. All lovingly re-appropriated and set to new scores, ranging from roots reggae, through classic funk to psychedelic wig out and minimal electronica.

The Green Room monster will be laid to rest each night with a full length film, screening exactly as its maker intended. Chosen to complement the hour, each film takes a trip through surreal images and subjects, just what you need at 4 in the morning after a night of partying.

In the Dance Tent a virtual aurora borealis will entrance clubbers, courtesy of Leeds VJ Mafia and guest VJ Rovastar. The northern lights continue throughout the night, even when the amplified beats stop and the Silent Disco kicks in.

As the moon rises over the site, guerilla projectionists will breathe life into the myths and legends that surround the mysterious moors and the creatures who dwell within.

Altogether, this visionary approach to festival programming makes the Moor Music Festival stand out from the crowd, and is another example of how it supports local scenes. It truly is a festival for the people by the people.

Yeehaaaaa.
What a great weekend.
Big dues to all concerned.
It was great to spend some time with you.
Unj your a star.
Well done to all the Leeds VJMafia Crew. Pistol Pete* Other Pete* 3YE* etc etc etc *******
Great installs all over the site.
Bit damp here and there, lucky all the PA's were there to soak it up!

Highlights for me were Vital Visuals set in the High Pressure/Trench Friday night, big love for the sounds and a fine flowing visual style.

Tim and all at Look and Listen. Sweet Ass Cinema Stylz! See you soon. Thanks for the set.

Who did I mix with in the Silent Disco on Saturday (Sorry to many names?) Great graphic skills, nice one. Less said about the Silent Dj's the better.

I'm not even gonna mention Howard MarX, hahahahaha. PEACE

Last but not least respect goes out to the lighting crew who mixed and matched all the VJ's styles, exemplary.
Rovastar where were you?

Jammin Crew in London 2mrw, text for guest list places.

Sadly I came down with a horrible cold from Wednesday and had to cancel. Really disappointed I missed it.
