I'm thinking about buying a WJ-AVE5 , but I'm not sure what I can do with the superimpose. I want to add a TV-logo but it's not rectangular. (with software-superimposing, the logo using transparency around it).
Is this possible with the AVE5 ? |

Just nothing.. superimpose in ave5 is absolutely useless (bad quality) except some strange effects, like connecting one of your outputs to ext camera in //

do not try to do anything slick or professional (like logos) with the superimpose effecton the wj-ave5... although its good for artsy lo-fi things.

Actually, it all comes down to how creative you can be.
I have owned 5 of the AVE 5 mixers over the last 10 years. Yes you can superimpose on a black or white key or a half mix, or as a camera signal over two layers of video. No, it will not look that good, but it all depends in what you want to achieve. If the gig pays........get the hardware.......if it don't, and yet, you know your equipment, give em summat creative. Depends on what you or the client wants. stu

It depends, if you're lucky and the logo is in one color, u could try and see if the quality is ok, now what i didn't read here and could be very usefull for logo's is that you can adjust the opacity of the superimposed pixels, so you can make some watermark-like logo (and/or even add simple shadow, etc.). You can not only replace the pixels with black or white, but 8 colors in total (red, green, blue, magenta, yellow, cyan). However: in most cases it may be a better choice to add your logo with your software (like you say you allready did).
Personally i don't think the superimpose is useless at all, allthough it can't be compared with modern lumakeying like the V4 has. I have my WJ-AVE5 for a month or so now and i'm really happy with it, for someone that VJ's as a hobby and doesn't make lots of money of it (like me), this can be a good choice imho. |
