Not true. The petraflops technology was recenlty taken over by microsoft, under a new standard called 'the total flop'

Its interesting the way processing power is increasing. I was at a 'futurist' seminar where the speaker showed that if we continue to increase cpu speed on the current exponential curve:
  • In 5 years we should reach the processing power of a cockroach brain in one unique chip.
  • In 50 years we will reach the brain power of a human being
  • In 80 years time we will reach the brainpower of 12 human beings combined. Thats when we hardwire our brains into a computer system that records every human experience in our life that our future generations can relive instantly.
Apparently the roadmap was put together by one of the founders of intel.

So all we need then is programs to exploit the new hardware capabilities.....I can't think of more than two video or 3D apps that I use that fully utilise multi cpu /core sytems written in 64bit code ATM! Let alone that it will primarily be used to show off some pointless eye-candy pseudo desktop metaphor improvement ... think Aero / Beryl / Bumptop here!

So my prediction is:

5 years - single CPU reaches the brain power of a cockroach .... a 'roachbot' becomes intelligent enough to escape it's confines and destroys itself trying to run for cover under a fridge.

50 years - cpu's reach the power of a single human brain, network, argue and destroy each other over their opinions on how they came to exist in the first instance.

80 years - In the aftermath of the cpu wars the first digital watch is re-invented, their slaves embrace it as a 'cool thing' and come out from hiding only to be put to work by their new masters to work in the silicon mines.

LOL

Does that include women brains?

I wonder how 12 female brains combined will react under PMS.

Or 12 driving the same car

(I hope Holly won't read this)

You are an arse Rei.

I don't know if it is your culture, upbringing, or strange sense of humour etc. and frankly I don't care. I am not "politically correct" nutjob but even I can see how your comments are offensive.

You have been warned multiple times about this. (content/tone of your posts) and frankly you do not seem to listen at all. So I feel I am left with no choice but temporarily ban you from posting for a few days in the hope that think before you post in future.
