I swear there was a good freeware app that I had before to combine a series of bitmaps into an AVI. Anybody got a good one?
I'd prefer to be able to drag a whole load of them in, and then maybe delete a few here and there, as opposed to the ones that just do a folder numerically with no preview. Reasonably priced shareware apps that I can demo would be appropriate as well, if anybody has one they swear by. This is a case of too many options from googling and searching. After installing the 3rd crappy shareware one (and I hate installing random stuff on my computer) I'd rather just ask.

i use vegas - in the preferences you can select the duration of imported stills so you cabn get them to be the right length..
for more advanced use try the Vasst ultimate plugin pack for vegas http://www.vasst.com/product.aspx?id...2-f703f5050400 this has loads of automation features for doing stills sequences including transitions and randomization features.

I hadn't looked at the preferences in Vegas for that.
Will give it a try. Vegas really is good bang for the buck.
