FFRend (Freeframe Renderer) is a renderer for Freeframe plugins. It allows you to chain any number of plugins together, automate their parameters using oscillators, and record the output to an AVI file. The input is a video (AVI), still image (BMP/JPG/GIF), or source plugin.
Most VJ softwares support Freeframe, and can record their output, so what makes FFRend different? FFRend is optimized for content generation, whereas VJ softwares are typically optimized for live performance. The key difference is that FFRend NEVER drops frames, even when your project is too CPU-intensive to be rendered in real time. It's also possible to perform with FFRend, though it currently lacks typical VJ control interfaces such as MIDI and key mapping. To get an acceptable frame rate, you may have to lower the resolution, simplify your plugin chain, or use a more powerful PC. FFRend is free, open-source software for Windows 2000/XP. It includes comprehensive help, an installer, and a simple demo project. If you want to render complex effects at high resolution, using chains of automated Freeframe plugins, FFRend is your friend. http://ffrend.sourceforge.net/ =ck |

AWESOME!
I could not get it to re-render a clip exactly from start to end with some FreeFrame magic though. Maybe you could add some options in the record settings to simply take the size and length of the input video? |

little bug, if can be called so, i noticed when i move the editor window, the preview image moves too..
For the features, i use Visualjockey so, chaining, curves to parameters, renders, are redundant for me. But this it's free

Quote:
1. PAUSE FFRend. 2. Open the project 3. Open the video (if you had the video open when you saved your project, it's reopened automatically so you can skip this step). 4. Press record, and step through the dialogs. Make sure you specify the correct duration (see below). 5. UNPAUSE FFRend (recording begins). Unfortunately the duration is specified in TIME not frames. This means you have to know how many frames are in your AVI, and convert that to time (hh:mm:ss) at whatever frame rate you're running FFRend at. This only gets the length to the nearest second. ![]() I should say that the reason I missed the boat here, is because I haven't been using FFRend for rendering clips so much as for rendering source plugins (i.e. WhorldFF), in which case none of this comes up. ck |
