Default the very latest modular midi controller system

The perfect companion for LaCie brick hard drives - lego modular midi controllers.
Looks to work well with Live but still in the research stage hhmmm

Me neither on the German; there seems to be a little start-up research activity mentioned to get an intersting idea going as a prototype; words though, very fickle things words, where is that Mawzer (?) midi controller we read lots about ages ago?
There is an existential reality to that 'base' board with its grid of contacts though, it looks to have been circuit bent with care and attention, but I don't play with Lego any more so it may be a proprietry item for Lego.
Note to self - get lego out of the loft.
There are only 2 images on the guys flickr account, both the same and one posted back in 2004 so who knows really - lovely concept though.

I love the idea of mosular midi equipment. But its probably hard to make the numbers right to turn it into a business and mass produced product. I figure that each module will cost more to manufacture as seperate modules, than it would as part of a collection of faders etc within one box. And as midi controllers can now be obtained cheaply, its hard to get a large enough market to go beyond prototype stage.

Modular and mass market exclude each other, there is no perfect setup. Its an interesting field, i like the super recycled controlers that are being made. A controler is usualy very personal and original, wich is kinda unusual today.

a serious word of warning about lego.. //
when i was seven i swallowed the breathing pack of a lego spaceman and the hook of the piece got caught on my windpipe (irony1)... it stayed in me for 6 weeks, until i finally had a tracheotemy and spent another 5 weeks in hospital with a tube stuck in my throat...

my mum wrote to lego in denmark and they sent the biggest most xpensive lego set available. so i was in hospital playing with lego recovering from a near fatal lego accident...(irony2)

but lego can also be used to make visuals ... -

The german who is in the look out for a perfect midi controller has looked at the page and can sadly say that its only a prototypen. they have not found a viable way to produce this but there are step by step instruction on how your roll your own:

the whole project was run under the "jugend forscht" label wish is a competition for people under 18 that when they win get a huge grant and lots of media publicity... this project did not win...
