sorry i can't really help you with hard tech, its not a genre i have thought very much about, even though i love the audio so much i can't think of anything that would look techy in a visual format.

how ever heres one of my fave hard tech sets at the moment

but be warned this is a mega hard by a guy called alex calver from the UK.

get this audio mix

Hard Techno - are we talking hard trance - I haven't heard of hard techno.
I generally find that with hard trance I can use super short clips. Anything fast, robotic (as in rigid) and dark usually works. Steer clear of anything too colourful, or anything too meaningful. Use alot of hard cuts and grungy clips.
As for what to rip - Im not putting my foot in my arse there. Thats a touchy subject, Im sure you can work it out for yourself. Remember that there are copywrite laws.

to be new doesn?t mean you'r not creative!

get some sets/musics, play them and get your hands/head on the work!

for (hard)techno i would go more on synths (nice loops on tempo) and abstract stuff. (but that would be myself choosing..)

get into it and (remember!) always have fun!

some visual content ideas I have used in the past for hard techno ( one of my favorite styles of music ! )

- trains
- motor engines and mechanical parts
- laboratory and microscope
- robots
- interference and noise
- old technology like early phones, telegraph, phone operator boards
- geometric abstraction
- clocks and watches
- code, plans and blueprints
- mix of technology and other apparently unrelated themes like vegetal life
- wires and connections

The most important thing to make yours visuals fit with hard techno music is the rythm though : listen to the beat and dance your mix ! Try to be a part of the machine that is driving everyone on the dancefloor

hard techno is what the whole midwest (outside of Chicago) was raving on back when such things existed. (these *raves* that everyone talks about)
Frankie Bones is a good place to start (though his older stuff is much better then the later stuff I've heard)
I know I've got a mix CD from some milwaukee DJ in my collection that nails it pretty well too if anyone wants to hear it..
