viruses look great...
http://medicine.wustl.edu/~virology/ I'm sure there's some 3d programme that will knock up these shapes pretty quickly... If not grab some off the internet and fake it in after effects... nice depth of field effects would look brilliant. |

I am still dealing with the vacuum left by so many highly creative dead friends, colleagues and clients that delt with HIV and AIDS, and those who still are. In my view, these viruses NEVER looked great or brilliant. In fact, they were the ugliest and most soul-sucking images/slo-mo's/3D/ nightmares I could never construct. And they will stay with me - lodged deep in my consciousness - a part of me untill I die. If "I" were to tackle a graphical representation of viruses, there would be nothing pretty about it. Gritty, greyscale(?), deadly. Why seduce viewers with cool 3D or FX? It's NOT a sexy thing. But also, don't go into the chicken little thing either. Make sure your client is on the right track. Wow thats a great answer alley. Yeah I guess theres a message behind the talk - this stuff aint pretty.
What about something more relevant to the message. Kill the graphics and have somethign that doesn't distract too much from the presenter - but still portrays the 'right' message. Perhaps some slow blending stills of people - moreso 3rd world people. Don't have to be medical. Just reminding the audience that the real issue is not biological - its a health issue. If thats what the talk is about of course!!!

viruses have rights too!
they are beautiful, in the same way as poisonous toads are beautiful, and the science of viruses is pretty amazing, if you can look past the effects they have on us puny humans. Obviously if you're talking about the social effects then scary is the way to go... but if you find microscopy sinister you need therapy. |

As you all must know, 99% of the most beautifull and asethetically pleasing things on earth are..................deadly, in some form or other.
I think its the way you respectfully look at this beauty, that gives you a truly full understanding of it, and hopefully, the audience you perform to. |
