Default Beam Video Art Festival - Feb 2003

The Cube is a artist run cooperative with a 110 cinema and a bar, lounge and
garden areas. We're commited to showing experimental and cutting edge work
in
Film, live art, video art or music. We have cinematic and entertainment
licenses. We have are well established and highly valued arts venue in the
South West.

B_E_A_M will be a Vj and video art festival running from the 7th to the 9th
Feb -2003. Local, national and international artists will perform over the
three
days.

Friday will consist of VJ battles : There will be three
'battles' with Vjs improvising over Dj sets using Two Video projectors for a
split screen effect. Invited artists include Bristol's Socket,
Vj MerseyJOker and animator John Rixon.

Saturday will be an all day forum with software/hardware being demoed,
Websites on display, and Info being distributed. In the afternoon there will
be a discussion on the future of AV performance led by David Bernard who
will demo his hardware Arkaos followed by a couple of matinee performances -
FRom Glasgow - Dan 'Ablab' Norton performing using his own software-Flash
generator and London's video bootlegers 'Eclectic Method' . In the evening
Vj Rodell will perform an AV set with Matt YeeKing
(rephlex records) Bedoin Ascent (RNS records) will headline with D-Fuse.

The Sunday Social will be hosted by VJs Shmooz(Big Chill/Blacktronica/Scene)
and will have guest Djs from Scene and Hint (Hombre/Ninja Tune) playing
live.

The other VJ festivals that took place Leeds and London this year were
sell-outs and were well publicised in magazines such as Camcorder Mag and VJ
Central. The likely audience will be in the age range from 20-35years. Many
Industry
representatives and Artists working in digital media will be present at the
event.
