Default front projection + see trough

Hello guys,

i've been looking trough the treads here and i don't seem to find the answer i'm looking for...

What i'm looking for: material that i can front-project on but that also lets the image shine trough on the backside. it is to be used in front of a window, and we want that you can see the images also when you on the other side of the window. any suggestions? meanwile i'll be digging around here...

How much ambient light is there outside? Anything from white cotton bedsheets to frosted acrylic will give you an image viewable on both sides, but if the ambient lighting outside of the window is too much you won't be able to see it from either.

Any kind of white material or heavy tracing paper will work. Make sure you fireproof it.
What won't work is PVC rear projection material or high gain rigid rear projection material. They work so well that the image is only properly visible from the front of the screen.

1. Your projecting through glass which will give you roughly a 30% light rejection on your initial source.
2. Most rear projection screens will give you a double sided image.
3. Bedsheets/ linen would also work.

thx for all these answers. i think i'm gonna go with a rear projection screen, like asterix suggested. Outside isn't very bright, a couple of streetlights and that's practically it. I know i will lose some clearity becose of the window but as long as you see something from the outside it's ok. It is just a very small bar, so small even that de dj's will be upstairs and the crowd downstairs. There will be camera's on both and the images from dj's will be projected donwstairs in front of the window. The dj's will have a monitor to watch the crowd. So if we're gonna point our projector in the direction of the window why not let the people outside enjoy it too? That's the general idea.

try scrim or gauze, i have to project onto it all the time and the problem normally is that it lets the light thru...

sorry, drunk.
just reread you post, i thought you wanted the image to continue through the screen onto whatever it hits next, not just visable on both sides.
i'll stop posting now.

Depolished acrylic, does that looks white? Or can you see trough it?
