Default not but...

i think mac mini still needs some tech updates (grafx card, video out, G5?!) to be a propper machine for vj'ing, though powerbooks with almost same specs has been used for vj'ing a lot, so its doable! (no GUI or preview screen though..)
nevertheless, i see mac mini more as a highly portable and independent video processor/controler::
u could have them "glued" to the projector and running your app controled through osc (wireless), this would mean no cables! and controlling many minis through a main machine, controller at distance (dancefloor?! ).

here i go....

Stuart, quite well aware on howto search forums. I asked has anyone used one yet to VJ. Most other threads are about how it COULD be used. They were posted around the time of launch, and consist of questions wondering what it could be used for.

I'm asking the question what HAVE they been used for.

I gotta say I wouldn't recommend a mini unless you have a very clear idea of a specific use you have in mind like say a headless machine to run grid slaved to a midi sequencer.

the next upgrade may change things...

the new ibook is much more interesting for a vj.. the graphics card is core image capable and it can have a dual screen hack applied....

I also wanted to use one for vjing and therefore went to my apple dealer with an external harddrive in my pocket which was loaded with clips. I installed the demo of GRID and have to say even DV-codec clips performed flawlessly.

I haven'tbought one yet cause I couldn't find a way to get around the missing UI... I am currently getting closer to a solution and I'll let you know as soon as there are results...
