From an artistic side Mbazzy is moving more and more in the direction of audiovisual conversion, but this excites me nevertheless ;-)

The day has finally arrived ..... Just got news that Mbazzy's first full cd "The Dysfunctional Playground, a scrapbook about the shape of useless things" was officially released on Retinascan ... this is what they say about it :

The release by mbazzy was a difficult birth for al at Retinascan. When we first received the promotional discs from Belgian soundworker Didier Legein, mediated by lo-bat., who also is a fan of his music, we went completely nuts about how neatly the unique style fit into the claim of our label: "the sound of individualism".

Mbazzy disrespects all kinds of aesthetic restrictions: who cares about lo-fi or hi-tech, gameboys are as good a soundsource as dustbins or supercomps. And he is not your usual electronic fonzi: The songs/tracks are mostly based on drifing improvisations, freeform like jellyfish, and equally shimmering and mysterious.

Next step was to find an adequate artwork and packaging for such an outstanding release. Never before we had to make so many tryouts on art, trashed so many ideas and concepts. Finally, this CD-R will come to you wrapped in a very special handcrafted lid box, and though it's all about the music, we're really happy to present something all in all special to you.
