Hey all. I'm still relatively new to the VJ scene, but have been thinking about it for several years. I own an MX-1 and several video-out PCs and Macs. Hopefully this summer I'll be pulling my stuff together and making some stock tapes. Being a full-time student keeps me too busy during the year to work on it much.
Are there any VJ's on here from the Detroit area? It'd be cool to meet some who aren't elitist bastards. I recently had a talk with the "world-caliber" guys at Motor Lounge and was told that they "only work with people who've worked all over the world." Man, if people all over the world enjoy watching crashes to Media Player 6 and a Windows desktop, a handful of cheap low res samples, and no beatmatching or sound-reaction I'm gonna lose my faith in the scene. ![]() Peace to all. |

Hey Thlayli, welcome
![]() I don't know about VJs in Detroit but you surely won't meet much elitist bastards here, they don't like too much the sharing spirit of this community Those people must not have worked with a lot of people, I don't think there is more than an handful of VJs who have played "all over the world", at least not yet.

They sound like a bunch of dickheads Thlayli, yeah that attitude gets put down pretty quick around here
![]() ppl who put windows desktops up during a show, should be shot and have no right calling themselves "professionals" |

sounds like those cats from motor lounge are afraid of anyone doing something more original than they can do, and they don't want anyone else to steal away their lame ass show...it is ppl like that who never seem to realize that the more we(as VJ's) build each other up, and help each other out, the more the scene will grow, and the better it will be for all....

Welcome, Thlayli. Although I'm in Chicago right now, I'm making the move to the Ann Arbor area soon. (probably within the next month) I used to live there, but came to Chicago for grad school.
Anyway, I'd love to hook up with some VJs in the Detroit area after I move. My Bro, Levlhed (moderator on this site), and I work as RenderBros. He's in WI. The move back to MI is going to make it rather difficult for us to work together very much, so it'd be sweet to hook up with some locals. Maybe even tag team a few shows??? You can check us out at http://www.levlhed.com/RB/RB Yeah, I know, the site blows right now. Just some basic info right now. Give me a call/email sometime. holland@levlhed.com 630-452-2321 |
