Hello
We are currently working on a mapping show, everything goes smoothly except technical side. It will be our first time and we need some advice how to setup projectors. We want to use 2x Sanyo XF47 15k lm XGA in the way showed in picture. Questions: 1 Will it have enough brightness and resolution? Elevation have a detail and pixel will have 1,76cm. 2 Is it a good idea to setup projectors this way? 3 Selecting lenses 4 Setting up camera in 3d. Do cameras have to be at the same positions and angles in 3d as projectors in real world? Perspective or parallel? Arti G |

If you don't already have someone on your team who's comfortable answering questions on that level (like lens selection and 3D camera setup), you need to find this person and bring them on site with you.
There are a dozen little details that need to be just right for a project like this to work, and getting one of them wrong could potentially make you look very foolish in front of your client/boss. Just for starters, that's quite a large surface to be hitting with a pair of 15K projectors. Remember that your projection has to be based on the whole image (for example, a 4:3 image that is 16.8m tall will be 22.4m wide), so you're projecting two 15Ks onto a surface that is nearly 400 square meters. Do you know how much ambient light there will be? For example, do you know if the lightposts on that pedestrian bridge will be on or off? What about floodlights in the car park? That's just one detail. In short, you really need to find a local projectionist who really knows his/her stuff. |

Get 1 really powerful projector, it will be easier for you to accomplish your task.
or, if you already own the projectors then I;d suggest stacking them, but you'll have to move them back further, cause you're to close for most lenses to work properly... unless you get wide angle lenses, then good luck stacking!! I also agree with Garybizzo, you really need to have a person on your team that can at least select lenses, before you can tackle a job of this size. |

We have a person who knows about projectors and technical stuff, but I would feel more safe if someone could say if it's a good aproach and tell what kind of problems we could have. I've never done this before, I like to know as much as possible, talk to many people not one.
Lights will be off and car park closed, there will be no car traffic. |

You also might take a look at the new cinema4D R14 with its camera calibration tag. Solves things like the camera, focal length...
Quite easy to draw the building in 3D, then it's just a matter of using your mapping software. |
