That's a great solution! You should add the video to the luminance channel of the material.

isnt this the hardest possible way to do it?
once upon a time we just deleted the edges of the cube and moved a white solid behind it..

But seriously. The UV map method has the advantage that you can animate everything on a 2D plane in AE. The main disadvantage is indeed that you have to additionally render it in the 3D program to get the final projected video.

Wow, that's the video I also found before but I couldn't believe it is that complicated. Compared to AE! 3d kills the 2d stars
At the moment I tricked a little bit and work with the AtomArray. I moved my model in it and now i got now kind of transparent effect.
