Hi everyone,

Please see below for some of the sample text I use within a VJ Contract for each promoter with whom I work. Obviously, there are location-specific pieces to change in any of the contracts you use. Hopefully, this is useful to some people.

VIDEO / VISUALS SERVICE AGREEMENT

This formal agreement made and entered into this 8 October day of 2003, by and between Marcus Leja (c/o BurntVat Media), hereinafter referred to as "the Visual Artist”, and {BLANK} hereinafter referred to as “the Promoter”. The Promoter hereby engages the Visual Artist, and the Visual Artist hereby agrees to perform at the engagement hereinafter referred under the Terms and Conditions contained herein:

BurntVat Media will provide for one-time rental for the duration of the event to the Promoter:

Conditions of Agreement::
1) The Promoter shall pay to the Visual Artist the total sum listed abovefor performance. The balance shall be paid to the Visual Artist immediately upon conclusion of the event.

2) The Promoter agrees to provide a secure and safe venue for the Event with all necessary permits, insurance, and licenses to lawfully conduct the Event.

3) The Promoter shall make the Venue available for inspection by the Visual Artist by appointment.

4) The Promoter shall provide regulated 110 V AC main power (as per common North American electrical specification).

5) In the event of a breach of the Agreement by the Promoter with respect to the provision in the rider and contract, the Visual Artist shall be entitled to the fee specified in this Agreement, in full, without obligation to perform.

6) The Visual Artist shall be allowed 1 person on the guest list without any prejudice to the Visual Artist fee.

7) Promoter must maintain secured stage and backstage areas where visual artists have video source equipment, projectors, screens, and/or any form of sensitive electronic equipment. The Promoter will be held responsible for damages due to negligence on their part to keep these areas clear of persons.

8) Promoter will take responsibility and accountability for warning the general public about the possible use and dangers of flashing light within the performance.

9) In the event of natural disasters or other acts of God, the Visual Artist may cease performance without prejudice to the Visual Artist fee. In the event of foul weather equipment may be shut down and/or protected by any means necessary to prevent damage to said equipment.

10) This Agreement may not be changed, modified or altered except by an instrument in writing, signed by an authorized representative of both Promoter and Visual Artist.

I hereby agree to all of the above terms and conditions and understand my obligations.
