Default [Hack] Video In into most Quicktime Apps

Only works in Tiger:

Basic_Video_In

Basically, it's a super-simple Quartz Composer patch enclosed in a Quicktime Movie.

Tested in:
Grid Pro (Beta 3, build 3 - turn on Flash enabling)
Modul8
Isadora

Unfortunately, my Tiger installation is on a clean installation on an external drive, with none of my regular programs installed. I'm still not too sure about upgrading my regular system, though I'm really quite tempted...maybe I'll cave in before the Lava meeting tomorrow and have an answer for you then

Does it work in GRID2 ?
If it does, I'm gonna buy me a Tiger.

yes it does, just enable "flash movie loading" and both Grid and Grid pro will play back quartz composer compositions.

You can also play my audio reactive spectrum composition inside Grid or Grid Pro still with audio levels responding.

lowRes,

yes and no.

qc patches saved as quicktime will run but not at full speed and not with keyboard control or full interactivity.

vj developers will need to upgrade their apps to take full support of qc.

see this thread for details:

watch this space, I have a feeling very soon you wll see a new VJ app that allows triggering of multiple QC comps with ful control.

There is almost a complete example of this with the tiger developer tools. It would only be a couple of days work for a good cocoa programmer to make a GRID clone with full Tiger / QC support.

alas, that's not me, just sticking to hacking the quartz composer patches.

i actually had a bit of a play with quartz composer yesterday (yes, i went out and bought tiger) and i am quite impressed. it works more or less like i expected it to. i especially like the way you can just hook up user inputs via mouse x and y coordinates etc.
