Default Headphones?

I just did a search here to see what headphones you VJs are using and to my surprise I didn't find a recent thread that covered this, so I guess I'll start one!

From reading elsewhere it looks like the best cans will cost up around $150 - $200 US dollars. Do you think its possible to get a decent pair for under $100? Under $50?

What are you guys currently using?

Note to the moderator: please feel free to move this to the Hardware thread if that is more appropriate. I'm new so that's why I posted under "Getting Started".

Most VJ's outside of the US dont use headphones as most VJ's outside of the US dont playback pre-made music videos.
Maybe in the US VJ's that play music videos would do though.
As somebody who does DJ sometimes I would recommend a pair of Sennheiser HD-25-1's.
Welcome to the forum.

edit: I didnt move your thread as it obvious you are getting started! Being older I use exclamation marks to indicate humour.

I use headphones (comms mostly!) but i guess you mean DJ headphones? in which case I've always likes the HD25 they are loud, last for ages (until someone steals them) and can be fixed if you brake them.

Otherwise the Sony DJ range are not bad - they are more comfy than sennheisers but do not last as long.

Or get oldschool with a pair of Beyer DT 100s - really good cans that sound better than either of the above options, don't cost too much and probably won't be stolen by your trendy DJ mates.

HD 25 all the way for all the reasons stated. They are the longest lasting pair of headphones that I've ever had by a long stretch, 10 years and counting.

I have the Prefer professional series HD-54, which are ultra rare and seldom show up on ebay, they origin from a time before Prefer decided tro produce cheap consumer shit. I have tested them against the sennheisers, Ultrasones and AKGs and very few can contest them. additionaly they look absolutely gorgeous

AIAIAI TMA-1's are the best headphones I have ever owned, sound amazing and really like the minimal design and they are built to last. I have gone through a stupid amount of headphones over the years and I really can't see these breaking anytime soon.
