Hey guys,
I have been using resolume avenue on tour doing visuals for a band. We use a special computer with a vga card that had four outputs, which means that after the control monitor I have three outputs running video to projectors. Ideally I would like to be able to do this using a laptop. I haver heard some about the triple head to go and was wondering if any of you guys had suggestions. Would i want the analog triple head 2 go, all of my projectors use vga. would it be a problem converting dp or dvi to vga if i were to get one of the other th2g? How do these things work with resolume? Another issue I have been having is with VGA cables. We run a couple 100 ft and a couple 50 ft cables from the computer to projectors we place around the venue. We have to break them down and set them up again each night when we are on tour so they need to be durable. Unfortunately the ones we have been buying break all of the time. I would love to hear some suggestions on good durable VGA's. Maybe if you guys know of some with warranties? Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much |

The analog triplehead2go isn't sold anymore. But the digital with dvi->vga pieces is the same, so you shouldn't have a problem with it.

In my experience if you use a triplehead your vga cables can't be longer then 30m...

Would i be able to run a 50ft or 100ft vga to the triple head to go from the computer and then run shorter cables from the TH2g to the projectors?
What about using amplifiers? What happens when you run cables longer than 30ft? does anyone else have any experience with this? |

I run from a DP triple head out to VGA adapters, then to 50' cables and it works no problem, but i cannot tell you about 100' |

Use the shortest cable possible to go from you computer to the triplehead. I was talking in meters btw
. I experience difficulties when the total sum of cable lenghts, coming out of the triplehead exceeds 30m (=100ft). No troubles with 3 times 30ft but longer cables didn't work.edit: Perhaps the Datapath X4 is a better solution for you. No personal experience but from what i read here it works much more stable. You can use dvi to vga plugs from the digital edition outputs without any problems. Doing the same for input requires dual link cable supplied with the unit. Cable length varies depending on resolution and frequency. But even on heavy guage vga i would be suspicious about going over 30m, even on lower resolutions.
