we used it at glastonbury a couple of times for an eastern/arabic vibe to parties. it is really beautiful and very useable considering its age (1926)

Thanks for this nommo! I bought Achmed and it is cool.
This thread has inspired me to hook up with a couple of live bellydancers and do a set with them, live compositing with bluescreen and also maybe projecting directly on their bodies as they dance.... Will show at EyeWash Apr 6 -- I'll post photos. One more addition to a VJ's Arabian toolkit: TAPRATS is a java-based app islamic star pattern generator that creates EPS files to import into photoshop, etc. It even makes the weaved over-under design.

i also have a load of geometric, calligraphy, architectural, comparative mythology pics and other stuff somewhere that we used too - but to be honest you could just leave achmed on all night! has the party happened yet Psychoptik? |

Yeah party was on the 12th march...sorry havent posted pics...it was a cool party, with good music, heard some good comments about the visuals; to be honest i wouldnt really consider it my best performance (had to mix a couple of Red Bull promo dvds into my set throughout the night as well as sponsor and promoter logos, and didnt really have a clear view to the screen
)Used Arabian Nights film, a Belly Dancing DVD and many loops and pics...since budget wasnt that big had to compromise on some clips i made by not showing em, they can be used for other gigs so im not really worried. I have to fix photos as person taking them moved settings on camera and some are too dark while others are too bright and streaked....Just havent put myself to do it....will post em soon! Thanks all...cool app. Holly and will order Prince Achmed as it looks very interesting and has left me curious. Peace
