Wow. Amazing that the things you most want to forget are the things you're most likely to remember. My recall of the Duran-era "Looking for Freedom" video was of David singing while endlessly riding a rollercoaster with his arms raised in giddy anticipation. Unless this was some clever metaphor for the decline and fall of communism, I would say he was just riding that "Tear Down the Wall" bandwagon hard. From what I understand Mr. H has fallen upon hard times. Maybe it time to revive his career with a nauseating 1st person perspective VJ-remix of the coaster vid... Something for one of the archivists among us?

as some of oyu might know, I work for a radio station. the guy responsible for the music we play told me that he was there in Berlin when the wall came down. Somebody reached for his hand to be lifted onto the wall. he helped the poor guy cause he thought it was either someone from the west celebrating or a poor sod from the east being happy about being able to cross the frontier...
when he realiized who he'd given a helping hand to, he said he would rather have left him: DAVID HASSELHOFF!!!! BTW: He WAS a big star in Germany, though the car was better AND he was the prodicer of BAYWATCH and guys don't tell me you didn't love pamela and the other girls of BABEWATCH...

My german flatmate was obsessed with David Hasslehoff and would sing his songs every-god-damn-day.
She no longer lives with us
