Default which software for my project? I can't figure out...

Hi guys,

That one is a real newbie question since I never used any vj softwares! yet...
After looking at the description of softwares here at vjcentral, I've been downloading some demos. But it looks like I'll need a year to figure out which one to use for the project I have currently.

Here's what I want to do: I rendered from a 3d software different avi sequences. They're all pretty abstract, white lines on black. Then I'd like to do some kind of mix (effects, speed variations, ...)with them and record this realtime (?) at PAL resolution (768x576), 25 fps. I'm thinking as well as a mix responding to an audio file...
(I'm working on a dualxeon 3,06 ghz PC with XP pro.)

Anyone has any advice? It would help me so much! And give me some courage to make it!

Thanks guys!

Hiromi

Thank you Sanch,

I just had a quick look at vvvv. Is it like Max/msp? It looks like it, patches and cords.
But, hmmm, I think I won't manage now...
Yesterday I've been quickly checking Grid2, which had a more comfortable interface but runs only on mac platforms.
Would anybody know anything like it for PC? With the possibility to record at Pal resolution?

Thanks a lot for your support. I start to really like your forum!

Hiromi

I would recommend resolume. However, for full resolution recording, I think you will have to export your video and record with a video camera or other device. I dont think resolume can record full frame video in realtime.

Why resolume? Easy to use, has all the features you mention, has audio input that can effect your video.

cheers, topher

VJamm Pro - is the best quality app for rendering.

Resolume 2.0, but do your recodrding to an second device like a nother computer that captures the video or a DV camera that has analog input or a DVD recorder.

This is the most simple interface of them all. For best playback qality use MJPG codecs (PIC VIDEO). Dont forget to get all the free plugins @ FreeFrame

A nother advice wuld be Visual jockey, the interface is not so intuitive since it is node based, it has great audio responsive features tough (much more advanced than resolume) you can render your compositions to avi, so no need for a second capture device, but you will need some more time to figure everything out. Also supports free frame plugins.
