Default Flash SSD for Mac Book pro 15''

I'm looking to change the my existing internal hard drive into one more faster, a flash SSD. But I don't know wich one to get.
I'm working on Resolume and it often crashes because of the high quality of clip I use.

I need to buy one of 512 GB, I can afford the prize around 400 euros I guess.

My computer is a MacBookPro - version 10.6.8 - 2.66 GHZ Intel Core i7 with a memory of 4go - 1067 Mhz DDR3).

I have looked on the web and saw there are problem sometimes of compatibility and I'm a bit confused .

When I'll get it someone will install it for me, but i need to bring the good one of course...

Thanks very much for your help.

First time I hear something like this... What codec are you using? I have a machine like yours and never had crashes...

Really it's not the first time, i start mixing and then it crash...

well i use the codec Photo-Jpeg @ 75%.
I tried also the DXV recommended by Resolume but the files are so much bigger than the Jpeg one.

The clips I use are in 1024 x 576 as the scene in resolume.

What is your advice, you don't use this codec and res ?
Thanks.

I use a Crucial M4 in my early 2011 17" MBP; running the OS, Apps and VJ clips. Never had any issues and it's fast.

Also replaced the Super/ CD drive with the original HDD in a caddy which I use for general storage, music etc. Was quite easy to swap out and never had any issues with it.

Edit to add: This was the ebay seller I used for the Superdrive caddy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2nd-HDD-SD...ht_3420wt_1263

I'll probably get round to buying a Superdrive USB enclosure off him at some point but I don't miss DVD / CDs at all tbh.

Just get larger drive to accommodate. DXV runs wonders with Resolume specially if you have alpha channel too. It is specially developed to accelerate in Res - thus the larger size.

any reason why you moved the original HDD? couldn't you have just left it where it was?

Well no, no reason, in fact this is a smart observation...
Didn't thought about it yes... I didn't imagine to get rid of the Super/ CD drive that we don't really use, true.

Well you suggest, as deanbob made for him, that i had the new SSD instead of the cd drive and keep the hardrive I have now and do nothing on it ?

Is it possible ?
Wich would be quite a good idea, then i won't have to install my os again
If it works, it's clever yeah.... Sometimes we complicate ourself...
You confirm this can be made ?

And after I'll just have to put all my vjay project on resolume on it...
But a question comes just now to me, won't it be slower if the OS is not on the SSD ?
Sorry i'm not a technician and not english (for the mistakes)
